What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a gentle nudge to invigorate your innate healing capabilities. Physical pain and illness are hormonal or neurological mishaps that cause imbalanced conditions. An acupuncture treatment is like mending a tattered tapestry or rebooting a short-circuited condition. Once your body receives this reset, then your physiological innate conditions re-balance is acquired and multi-level healing happens in mind and body. It is a natural and organic modality!
“Acupuncture treatment is endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO). The practice is adopted by the Mayo Clinic, John Hopkins Medicine, Cleveland Clinic, US Army, and US Dept. of Veteran Affairs.”

How Does Acupuncture Work?
A prick by a thin, sterile needle is a physiological stimulation to your body. The sensory receptors in your peripheral nervous system sends this stimulative signal to the central nervous system and further relays to the outer layer of your brain (cortex) and reach various parts of the deep brain. Due to the result of this sensory stimulation and the affect to multiple areas of the brain, it triggers an avalanche of neurological and hormonal responses locally and systemically that initiate physiological changes and a healing effect.
How to Decide Which Acupuncture Points to Use?
Traditional Chines Medicine considers that meridians, which are equivalent to glands and nervous systems, connect with specific areas of a human body and their associated organs, thus their functions. In order to address disorders, an acupuncturist takes into considerations of the issues the patient has and the desired results of the treatment to choose physical locations and acupuncture points that connect and correspond to the disorders to illicit therapeutic effects.

How Frequently Should I Have Acupuncture Treatment?
For those who have chronicle issues, starts with a twice-a-week treatment. Tapers down to once a week once the condition is stabilized. For seasonal allergy symptoms, come one month before the season. For those with menstruation symptoms, come two weeks before the period. For fertility issues with IVF, come three months, ideally, before the procedure. Shorter time to IVF implant needs more frequent treatments. For those who will endure chemotherapy or radiation, come at least two weeks ahead. Acupuncture treatment, once a week, during chemotherapy or radiation helps buffering the negative side effects.
